Fabrication

  • Royden Engineering limited have a fabrication facility in Rainford, Merseyside within easy reach of the motorway network.
  • We have a large workshop that has area available for production of large fabricated items such as deep, long span trusses.
  • We have recently invested heavily in two of the latest state of the art fully automated FICEP 1203 DJB high speed CNC drilling marking, sawing and coping lines and have also installed the FICEP TIPO D8, fully automated CNC angle and plate line, enhancing our production capacity.
  • CNCdata is transferred directly from our XSteel and Strucad 3D software packages to the cutting and drilling lines, leading to accurate and efficient production and problem free erection.

THE FABRICATION PROCESS
The ordering of the steel is managed to maintain delivery on a just in time basis. Delivered steel is stored in allotted lay down areas in contract bundles, marked with length, weight, contract number and grade until required in the workshop.

The steel is fed into the production bays, progresses through the automated cutting and drilling lines and is hard stamped with information including the contract number and the piece mark.

All fittings are pre manufactured and hard stamped with a unique number to information produced by the 3D detailing software. The numbers are obtained from an itemised list produced for each individual member to be fabricated. The fittings are matched with the parent member and moved down the production line into fabrication.

At this stage skilled fabricators position and tack weld the fittings to marks pre-stamped on the member by the automated machinery from electronic information from the linked 3D software. Full welding is then carried out by qualified welders.

Any steelwork that requires complex fabrication or needs a large lay down area is taken to a separate area of the workshop for completion.

The steel leaves the factory at the lower end of the production line to be loaded and sent for treatment or directly to site.

Throughout the process constant checking and testing is carried out to meet the company’s rigorous quality control systems.

The weekly production capacity is approximately 250 tonne of medium to heavy structural steelwork.  Royden has close ties with companies who can provide services such as curved sections and are able to fabricate complex structures such as the  successful 1000te Fitness First project in Altricham, Greater Manchester.

We employ an experienced, qualified workforce that have a full understanding of the construction process. Royden Engineering is proud of the safe environment we have created for all our employees.
